Folks,

I apologize for not getting this out sooner. I thought I had sent it last week but see it didn’t actually go out. Attached in the motion submitted to the board which resulted in the formation of the committee and the committee’s report of facts to the board recommending the data be presented to the club’s membership for a vote. While the report hits what the committee felt were the high points, I intend to present on all the data we collected. Please read through the report prior to the meeting and prepare any questions you have. Jason and I will be available to answer any questions that are not covered in the report or presentation.

I believe I speak for my co-chair, Jason Budd, and the entire committee when I say thank you to each and every one of you who took the time to make your voice heard by filling out the questionnaire. We have a final task ahead of us tomorrow which is to actually vote on the proposal. I urge all of you to be present so your voice will be heard where it matters the most. Please note, since we considered outside influences in our review, we have invited those non-club members to attend the meeting. In accordance with our bylaws, only current club members will be allowed to take part in the vote.

Thanks,

Shawn Kelso

Unfortunately I will not be in attendance tomorrow due to a conflict with another retriever board meeting.

My biggest concern is given the difficulty in getting volunteers for the two test we have now, what would it look like if we tried to have four per year?  Or will we have to chose which AKC or HRC we put on each season?  Yes there is potential for more members but I also believe there should exist a concern for burnout.  Many say they will help, the number that is truly invested is not that large.

Second, I know there are people who are ready to run with HRC immediately and between adjusting bylaws and other admin issues BCSRC will not be able to move as quick as some would like.

As a result I believe the best course of action is to allow those interested proceed with an HRC club and perhaps merge someday.

If I was able to attend I would vote "No" and instead support those that want to form a HRC club.  Sister clubs but two separate clubs.

Sorry I will not be there and thank you to the committee for their diligent work.
