BCARES upcoming Tech Classes and Exams

Hello,

Benton County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (BCARES) would like to announce two licensing opportunities.

Both of these are "ham radio in a weekend" class & exam. The weekends are:

• January 16-18, 2026
• May 29-31, 2026

The class is targeted towards the Technician level license, and the class will be very fast paced. We advise those taking the class to study before the class begins. HamStudy.org is a very good tool for online study, there are also many good text books available, and can often be found at your local library. Do check the edition of any textbooks, the exam question pool updates every 4 years, and older books may be less relevant to the current exam.

The schedule for both weekends are:

• Friday 6-9 pm the class begins
• Saturday 9 am - 5 pm the class continues
• Sunday 9-11 am review session
• Sunday 1pm exam

The exam on Sunday is open to anyone who wants to take any of the three amateur radio exams, and you do not need to take the class to take the exam.
