Bluegrass Breakdown
December 1st, 2025
| | East Nash Grass & More Added to Joe Val Lineup! | | The BBU is thrilled to announce that 2024 IBMA New Artist of the Year East Nash Grass will be performing at the Joe Val Festival on Sunday, February 15th. Hailed for their blend of tradition and innovation, the combination of their amazing musicianship, ensemble chemistry, and high-energy performances make them one of the hottest young bands in all of bluegrass. | | |
Northern Lights Reunion at Joe Val on Saturday, Feb. 14th
We are also excited to welcome a very special reunion of Northern Lights! This Boston-based band formed in 1975 and took their progressive sound all over the Northeast and beyond. The line-up will feature longtime stalwarts of the band, including Taylor Armerding (mandolin), Bill Henry (guitar), and Jeff Horton (bass), along with Gabe Hirshfeld (of The Lonely Heartstring Band) playing banjo in homage to his mentor, the late-great Mike Kropp.

More Band Announcements
We have even more bands to announce soon – but for now, we want to briefly mention two: Ashley Lilly & The Songcatchers (Saturday) are a band fronted by the granddaughter of Everett Lilly, and the Berklee Bluegrass Band (Friday) will feature some of the most talented students in Berklee’s American Roots Music Program. See below for the day-by-day schedule thus far*.
