Dear BARGE Members,
Have you ever attended one of our events, looked at the current corporate leadership team, and thought, “Wow, those poor souls desperately need adult supervision”?
Either way, congratulations! You are officially qualified to run for the BARGE Board of Directors.
We are officially opening nominations for 3 upcoming board openings for a 2 year term, and we want you (or that organized friend you’re about to volunteer-tweak into submission).
The outgoing memebers are:
Bex Kurl
Ken Kubey
And Yours Truely
We know what you’re thinking: “Why would I give up my precious free time to look at spreadsheets and debate bylaws?” Well, besides eternal bragging rights, board membership comes with standard-issue luxuries, including:
Absolute Power (Sort of): You get to vote on major, ground-shaking decisions. Like whether our next flyer should use Arial or Calibri.
A Fancy Title: Instantly upgrade your LinkedIn profile to include "Board Member." Watch your high school rivals wonder how you became so profoundly corporate.
Elite Networking: Rub elbows with other community members who also forgot to step backward when we asked for volunteers.
The Ultimate Excuse: "I can't wash the dishes tonight, honey, I have a very important Board Initiative to attend to." (Results may vary).
Free Breakfast: You get one free meal a year!
We aren't looking for superheroes. We are looking for humans who possess at least two of the following traits:
A pulse.
The ability to log into a virtual meeting without leaving your microphone on while your dog barks at the Amazon delivery driver.
Strong opinions, but an even stronger willingness to compromise when we realize our budget is exactly $38.27.
The nomination window is open from now until July 4th. You have two choices:
The Selfless Act: Nominate yourself. Take the reins. Show us how it’s done.
The Stealth Act: Nominate a friend. Do you have a buddy who is just a little too organized? Punish their efficiency by putting them on the ballot! (Don't worry, we won’t tell them it was you... unless they offer us snacks).
To throw a hat into the ring, simply reply to this email with the Nominee’s Name and a one-sentence reason why they wouldn't accidentally burn the organization to the ground.
Help us keep the wheels turning—or at least help us look like we know what we're doing.
Critically yours,
The BARGE BoD
