to BARGE List
The "official" BARGE Fun Walk (and Run) will be at 7am, Friday, August 1st and will be a one mile loop around The Orleans (more info below my signature) which people will do as many times as they want to (with the vast majority choosing zero). It is suggested that to get a bottle opener (see below) a participant should do two or more loops, but I'm flexible.

There are--I believe--still BARGE Fun Run bottle openers up for grabs. I don't know how many, because I sent to Dan almost all I had. I did that months ago, because he's a great steward (and not superstitious!) and at the time I was having huge problems planning things in advance.

This year, nobody will be sending any BARGE Fun Run bottle openers via the mail. However, if you will be in Vegas for BARGE, you may do a walk (or run) at some time or place other than the official time and, if you haven't already gotten one and there are still openers remaining, claim yours.

BTW, I relegated "and Run" to the parentheses this year due to seeing just how much walking has benefited my 93-year old mom. I even added mom to the BARGE Strava group in hopes that she'd come out and join us on the BARGE Fun Walk (and Run), but she'd prefer to remain in Albuquerque--at least this year. So far, her longest walk on Strava is 1.99 miles, but she'll break 2 before BARGE and might even walk 2 in Albuquerque concurrent with the BARGE Fun Walk (and Run).

I get nothing to tout Strava, but they use a freemium business model and you can get a lot for free (I use their free tier exclusively), including the ability to join groups as well as to follow people who might inspire you. Additionally, your participation might inspire others.

Looking forward to seeing you in (most likely less than) six weeks.

I don't know how long the url in my opening paragraph will be valid. This url might last longer, because (I think) it contains the information needed to reconstruct the route. When doing more than one lap, participants will be encouraged to alternate between counter-clockwise and clockwise. Here's a screen capture of the route as I just created it on Google Maps:
