Hi everyone,

Congratulations! You all made it through the school year! I hope you are enjoying our day of "reopening".

Thank you for all your efforts during this pandemic to come together as job developers and learn how to go virtual, help each other in career fairs and all kinds of other areas while dealing with a health and economic crisis, and raise critical issues around systemic racism, equity and access. You are an inspiration!

We have not had our Job Developer Meetup this month as I know folks have been focused on their own finish lines of their work, but feel free if you are still swamped to book a meeting for our group on your calendar, get off Zoom, take a break and reflect on the good work you and your colleagues have done.

If you need to be reminded of our efforts, here is our website that reflects all our meeting presentations, recordings, notes and resources that we identified. If you have anything to add, please send it to me.

Coming next this summer for our group are Journey Maps! A Journey Map is a way to bring together the work we did on Human Centered Design with our Equity Tenets and more deeply understand our students' experiences with our services and colleges and where there are opportunities to improve. Here's more info at this link. I've just been trained in Journey Mapping by one of the leading firms in User Experience (UX) and look forward to bringing this approach as well as outside expertise to you.

Next month I'll have a short workshop on Journey Mapping as well as explain how you can do one, and then I will be available to work with teams on making their own map. There are a couple of colleges already forming teams. If you are interested, please let me know. It's best to identify in advance a group of students (for e.g. students who are formerly incarcerated) or a scenario (career services) and then go from there - I can help you think through the possible scope as part of the work. It will be great to work with multiple colleges each doing their own mapping so you all can learn from each other.

I hope you all have a great summer! I look forward to continuing to support you as a Community of Practice as we move forward in serving our students.

Take care,
Carrie
