Hi everyone,

Thanks to all who could join for Friday's Job Developer Meetup to talk about having in-person career events. As one person commented in the conversation, "I'm feeling totally out of my element in doing in-person again" and it was great to share ideas of how to return, and also what students need.

Here are some takeaways:
- Consider doing off-campus events, for e.g. at an employers' site so people can get exposure to a worksite or in the community, to help people feel more comfortable.
- Students may not think there are opportunities for them, help them understand that employers often have a lot of different kinds of opportunities available.
- Consider outreach to high school feeder schools, high school students haven't had many opportunities to be on campus, and many seniors don't know what they want to do, good for them to hear it is ok not to know.
- Will have more employers want to come on campus then have spaces, can selectively invite, aligning with guided pathways and faculty input.
- Look to partner with on-campus welcome centers, workforce development boards and community partners on fairs, especially as many college staff are not back on-campus full-time and will need help.

Here is the marketing for some upcoming college career fairs:

Here are the notes and the recording of the meetup.

Take care,
Carrie
