A good idea from an ALA member

After five simultaneous book challenges last year and multiple parent complaints about the very idea of Banned Books Week, I "rebranded" my celebration and display this year as "Freedom to Read Week." That way, if parents want to complain, they had to complain about the freedom to read .  The display was bedecked in my Fourth of July decorations, including wooden figures of George Washington and Uncle Sam, and even a Statue of Liberty snow globe.  No problems.
