Now stop talking about it.” – The Futures School Participant Apply for the Next Cohort!Southwest Cohort* | March 8-10, 2022 *Please note, anyone can apply to this cohort regardless of geographic region as well as for any remaining cohorts (view all cohorts). Built on a vision of developing learning experiences that help you to be “fueled by foresight” in all that you do - Transformation for Libraries: The Futures School is a unique training program presented in partnership with the CT State Library Division of Library Development and Kedge: The Futures School (TFS). It emerged from a growing realization among leaders and organizations that success in the 21st century landscape of rapid change means we must embrace new pathways to the future. In other words, we need to foster mindsets and skills that help us to seize untapped possibilities and opportunities. Strategic foresight is a framework that creates multiple future scenarios, envisioning outcomes and evaluating current and pending strategies to support decision making and action in the present against a suite of possible futures. Participants will work with a library-specific focal issue to produce multiple scenarios for libraries 10-15 years in the future. Library staff will develop the skills to identify and capitalize on emerging trends, weak signals, and changing patterns through tangible models and reusable templates that allow them to apply their learnings immediately. You are invited to participate in this IMLS grant funded project. With tangible results and a repeatable framework, you’ll be on your way to developing a foresight mindset and skillset, ensuring you are primed for market-leading innovation, successful opportunity development, and future-proofing intelligence. Ultimately, you will learn a strategic framework that enables you to continuously learn-unlearn-relearn to lead discussion and action in the transformation of libraries.
