Program Description:

In a recent National Science Foundation/Brains On! study, 91% of kids listen to podcast episodes with their family and 96% of kids talk about what they heard after listening. Survey results like these are building awareness about the impact and educational value of kidcast listening. Anne Bensfield and Pamela Rogers, two kidcast-loving independent librarians, have been listening, reviewing, and connecting families to kids podcasts for five years. With kids and families home during the pandemic, listening took off as families searched for screen-time alternatives for their kids. During the first three months of 2020, children's podcast listening increased 24%, and now 25% of kids, ages 6 to 17, listen to podcasts. Join us as we share information about the growth in kidcast content, recent survey results about how kids and families listen together, new tools for discovering kidcast shows, and ideas for how you can connect and engage kids and families with kidcasts.
