Program Description:

“I just invented something amazing – what should I do now?”

“How do I patent and trademark my business name and logo?”

“Where can I get the forms to register a patent?”

If you get these types of questions from your patrons or are simply interested in intellectual property, then this webinar is for you! Staff from Arizona’s sole Patent and Trademark Resource Center (located at the State of Arizona Research Library) are excited to provide an intellectual property overview to Arizona library staff.

Attendees will learn:

  • The differences between patent, trademark, and copyright protection

  • An overview of the patent process

  • An overview of the trademark process

  • The resources available at the PTRC, online, and locally

There will also be live search demonstrations, news about free upcoming programming, and helpful handouts. Please join us!

Presenters:

State of Arizona Research Library librarians Kori Tueller, MLIS, (Assistant Administrator) and Janelle Breedveld, MLIS, (Federal Documents librarian) serve as Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC) representatives. Both have participated in extensive and continuous trainings with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in order to better inform patrons about the fundamentals of obtaining a patent or trademark and where to seek help. Their most commonly-used phrase while working with patrons seeking intellectual property protection is “I’m a librarian, not a lawyer!”
