Aurinkoisia syyspäiviä Tähän syksyn alkuun tuovat paljon valoa ihanat aurinkoiset päivät. Vaikka arjen kiire onkin saanut ainakin itseni kovin nopeasti kiinni, niin se ilahduttaa paljon. Muistutus jokaiselle tätä lukevalle: hengitä syvään, ota pieni hetki itsellesi ja anna ajatuksille lupa helpottaa hetkeksi. Pienetkin hetket auttaa yllättävän paljon siinä, että kokonaisuus tuntuu paljon kevyemmältä <3 Tsemppiä viikkoon! Vuonna 2022 satelliittidata paljasti yli 1 000 niin sanottua superpäästövuotoa, joista monet liittyivät öljy- ja kaasukenttiin. Turkmenistan oli vuotojen suurin aiheuttaja. Maa on nyt korjannut kahdeksan suurta vuotoa. YK pitää tätä merkittävänä ensimmäisenä askeleena.  Metaani on lyhytikäisempi mutta CO₂:ta voimakkaampi kasvihuonekaasu, ja sen arvioidaan aiheuttavan noin neljänneksen maailman kasvihuonekaasupäästöistä. Vuotojen korjaaminen on yksi nopeimmista keinoista vähentää ilmastopäästöjä. Viime viikonloppuna järjestetyt Kaikkien aikojen hallitussitsit kokosivat yhteen Athenen hallituslaisia eri vuosikymmeniltä ja tällä viikolla hallitus järjestää phuksisitsit. The project will investigate how people use their smartphones in their everyday lives and what wellbeing effects smartphone use has.    The project begins in September/October. The main task will be to assist in organizing and conducting data collection. The position is part-time during Fall semester 2026, and the exact hours can be negotiated to align with other studies. The main part of work will take place in October. Prerequisites: Good written and spoken English skills; Completion of a research methods course with a good grade (e.g., CS-C4000 Research Methods in Engineering Psychology or similar); Good organizing skills.  Preferred: Finnish skills, experience with empirical research and quantitative data analysis, and courses taken on human–computer interaction or engineering psychology are a plus.    To apply, send a short (max. 1 page) letter stating your motivation, experience, and availability to the project as well as your transcript of records via email to henrik....@aalto.fi by 20.09.2026. Satellite data identified more than 1,000 so-called super-emitter leaks in 2022, with Turkmenistan responsible for the largest share. The country has now fixed eight major leaks, which the UN describes as an important first step.  Methane is shorter-lived but much more powerful than CO₂ as a greenhouse gas, and is responsible for around a quarter of global emissions. Fixing methane leaks is therefore considered one of the most direct ways to reduce climate emissions.
