Work an Hour: Guria Project Update

Dear Asha Patron,

We are $13,700 away from our target goal of $15,000! Thanks to your donations, we have been able to support the construction of a water pump for Guria’s new center! However, we still need your support to fully finish the construction.

Besides providing basic literacy skills and therapeutic practices, Guria also has a thriving vocational program. At Guria’s educational center in Varanasi, they provide courses in computers, fashion design, and cosmetology. With these training courses and continued support, Guria has opened a wide field of opportunities for these children.

Over 70 children have now found alternative employment outside of the red light district. Many children have started their own businesses and now have their own tea shops, flower shops, etc. Other students with sponsorship from Guria have finished their higher education and became nurses, doctors and engineers.

While this phenomenal work has happened in Varanasi, the Mau center still needs your help. Donate to Guria’s WAH page now to help continue this work.
