Has anyone heard of Aestus:  https://aestusllc.com/

I was forwarded their link by one of my geotechnical/environmental
clients.  Aestus claims to do electrical resistivity imaging better than
anyone else for near surface surveys.  I've looked at their web site and
it just seems to be standard 2D and 3D imaging.  They do stress they get
good GPS positions on all of the electrode locations, but I don't see
anything else that is unique to their system.

Has anyone else worked with them, or know anything about them? Maybe
they have a really good algorithm for doing "sharp" inversions rather
than standard smooth model inversions?

Thanks, Clark

Hi Clark,

Aestus is run by an old prof of mine back when I was an MSc student at Oklahoma State University. His name is Todd Halihan. He's quite the experienced hydrogeologist, and one of the first names that comes up in the field in Oklahoma.

Most of my information here is about 6 years old, so things may have changed. However, back then they were largely using AGI's Supersting systems as their workhorse. I believe one of their main selling points is everything from gear to processing is hosted in that trailer, making them fairly mobile. Additionally, they have chosen to focus almost entirely on ERT/ERI surveying, and modify all their equipment to those ends (i.e. UTVs with mounted cable reels, etc.).

There's quite an active partnership with Oklahoma State University given his joint role there. As far as I know, they were not in the business of developing new inversion codes. The research group there was largely interested in building a wealth of knowledge and investigating novel problems and case studies as they relate to ERT/ERI and hydrogeology.
