Dear colleagues,

Jan Vozar and I have (finally) got the MT3DINV4 website live. You can visit it here: https://mt3dinv4.mtnet.info/

Please note that currently we only have the Forward Model description available. The Secret Model and the Real Data will be decided this coming week.

From that web site you can get all of the information you need to decide whether to attend the workshop, and you can register for the workshop.

Also if you are interested to be kept up-to-date with developments, please register on the MT3DINV4 emailing list by going to this page:
https://mtnet.info/mailman/listinfo/mt3dinv4_mtnet.info

Please note, as with the prior MT3DINV workshops, there is no registration fee, but to attend you MUST do at least one of the tasks:

1) Forward model the Forward Model and send me the responses, in EDI format

2) Invert the data from the Secret Model

3) Invert the Real Data

The MT3DINV4 workshop will run for 2 1/2 days from Friday 31st July to midday Sunday 2 August, at Memorial University.

On Sunday afternoon, from 1pm to 4pm, Alice Pavesi of Viridien will give a demonstration of Geotools.

From 4pm onwards is registration at the EMIW27 at the St. John's Convention Centre, and the EMIW27 follows for 5 1/2 days, with Wednesday as the Excursion day.

You can get more information about St. John's and getting to St. John's on the MT3DINV4 Venue page and also the EMIW27 Venue page:

Note that for Accommodation you are directed to the Accommodation page of the EMIW27, which follows directly on from the MT3DINV4. However, to see all of the links for discounted hotels etc., you need to register on the EMIW web site.

We hope to see many of you coming to St. John's to take on one of the challenging tasks at the MT3DINV4, and to stay on and be enthralled at the advances in EM exploration being presented at the EMIW27.

Very best wishes, and see you in St. Johns!

Alan and the MT3DINV4 Technical Committee

Dear colleagues,

A quick update on the MT3DINV4.

I have received a few queries already from people who wish to undertake one or more of the MT3DINV4 tasks and have their work presented, but are unable to attend the workshop physically for a number of reasons (timing, finances, visa, etc.)

In discussion with Colin Farquharson, there are a number of options that may be possible:

1) Send a poster to MUN to be hung up on the Friday and Saturday. (The poster boards have to be moved down to the convention centre on Sunday morning.)

2) Make a video of your work and send it to me and it will be shown during the workshop.

3) Present your work by video live stream. (Working on this.)

4) Have a colleague present your work for you.

Certainly (1), (2) and (4) are possible, we have to work on (3).

So please even if you are unable to attend, become involved!

Each of these MT3DINV workshops has taught us a lot about the state-of-the-art of MT data inversion, and most importantly what the challenges that need to be addressed.

In addition, as with the first two workshops held in Dublin, Colin is exploring the option to live stream the workshop, so anyone can "attend".

So please register for the workshop at: https://mt3dinv4.mtnet.info/Registration.html

Best regards all, and hope to see you in St. John's!

Alan

(P.S. Sorry to ask you to do this, but if you have registered already, please do so again as the google form to capture entries was not set up correctly. Also there are more questions now.)
