Dear Colleagues, We are inviting technical session proposals for the SEG Critical Minerals Forum, to be held 27–29 October 2026 at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. The Critical Minerals Forum is the first event by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) for the mining community. Organized by the SEG Mining and Mineral Exploration Committee, this forum represents an important initial step in growing the mineral science & exploration community and fostering collaboration across disciplines. The Forum is envisioned as a steppingstone toward future growth in mineral exploration. The Forum aims to advance understanding of critical mineral occurrences, the roles of geology, geophysics and AI in their discovery and characterization, the development of enhanced imaging and sensing approaches, and engagement among geophysicists, geologists, and geochemists. We welcome proposals that span fundamental science, applied exploration, and emerging technologies. |

- Suggested speakers (minimum of three)
Below is a list of topics that the Technical Committee thinks are of interest to the mineral science and exploration community. Please feel free to "adopt" any of the topics below or propose new session topics. - Critical mineral exploration (Li, Cu, Co, Ni, graphite, uranium, potash, REEs, and others)
- Geological perspectives on critical mineral systems
- Multiphysics and integration of geophysics and geology
- Remote sensing and geochemistry
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning
- Decision making under uncertainty
- Drone based measurements
- New sensors and instrumentation
- Mine waste characterization
- Characterize mineralogy beyond boreholes
- Commodity focused studies
Proposed session topics should scientifically relate to critical minerals, mineral exploration, mineral systems, geophysics, geology, geochemistry, ore deposits, and borehole-based investigations. Interdisciplinary, forward-looking, and community-building proposals are encouraged. We look forward to your ideas and to building an impactful forum together.
