Good afternoon, ASCUE members!

I’m writing with news, and a personal appeal.

First, the news: early-bird rates for the 2022 ASCUE conference, to be held in Myrtle Beach June 12-16 and online (June 13/14), have been extended until next Friday, May 6. Full, In-person conference registration is $250, while the virtual conference registration is $50. After May 6, both rates increase by $25, to $275/$75. You can register for the conference, for either in-person or virtual attendance, here:

It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly three years since we last gathered at Ocean Creek for our annual ASCUE conference. After the COVID pandemic forced us to cancel the 2020 conference and move to a virtual format in 2021, I am excited to see the return of a full, in-person conference this June, as well as an online option for those unable to join us in person.

Now, for the appeal: Your ASCUE board has been hard at work planning an exciting and engaging conference for 2022. Our Keynote Speaker, Dr. M.J. Bishop (University of Maryland Global Campus) will offer a timely take on the critical importance on academic innovation. We have an impressive slate of vendor sponsors who will share their own visions on technology innovation. And most important of all, we have a broad range of ASCUE member presentations – the hallmark of all ASCUE conferences. All we need now is you!

I understand and appreciate the continued impact of the pandemic – uncertainty around travel, restrictions on institutional budgets, and added tasks and responsibilities at work that make setting aside time for a conference difficult. While I’d be delighted to see you in person, If it’s not possible for you to travel to Myrtle Beach, I urge you to consider the virtual conference option. The virtual conference will be held June 13-14, and offers 19 virtual sessions and presentations, as well as virtual networking spaces and vendor expo. Many presentations will be recorded and available after the conference, which you can access later even if the live times aren’t convenient. At an early-bird rate of $50, it’s a phenomenal value! And if you are able to attend in person, you’ll have access to the recorded sessions as well, which should help to minimize the angst when you can’t decide between competing talks. Once again, here’s the registration link, and you can find more information, as well as the conference schedule, at ascue.org. I hope to see you soon, either at Ocean Creek or online!
