Subject: Thank you / EC consultation on the European Research Area (ERA) Framework

Dear list members,

First of all, we would like to thank everybody who has contributed to the public consultation on scientific information that closed on 9 September 2011 (http://ec.europa.eu/research/consultations/scientific_information/consultation_en.htm). We have received over 1000 replies. The analysis phase has started and results will be made public in due course.

Second, we also wish to inform you that, on 13 September 2011, the European Commission has launched a further public consultation that aims at gathering views and evidence from stakeholders on the key obstacles to the achievement of a European Research Area (ERA) by 2014, thus creating a single market for knowledge, research and innovation.

Section 7 of the questionnaire focuses on knowledge circulation (knowledge transfer and open access) as one of the key issues to tackle. The sub-section on open access refers to the previous consultation on scientific information, and asks questions that are specific to the remit of ERA policy actions (e.g. on researchers' awareness, ownership and copyright rules, VAT, infrastructures, national policies, etc.).

Should you wish to contribute, the consultation will be open until 30 November 2011. All the relevant information can be found here:
http://ec.europa.eu/research/consultations/era/consultation_en.htm.

Kind regards,
RTD SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATION
