PowerBI Workshops or Certifications Recommendations

Hi all,

I’m writing to ask if anyone has recommendations for good Power BI workshops or certification training programs. This is on behalf of a colleague who is relatively new to data visualization and does not yet have experience with Power BI.

I’m largely self‑taught, though I found some helpful tutorials on LinkedIn Learning when I was first getting started.

The M365 certification courses are a good start. I’m self taught too, but was able to do these and have a more practical application you tuber content.

I am mainly self-taught as well, and in addition to Rebekah's helpful suggestions re:certifications and YouTube, I would suggest using AI as support. I've found ChatGPT to be very useful across different scenarios - e.g.,  providing explanations about how Power BI works, formulae for specific calculations, strategies for minimizing data model size/enhancing performance, etc.

Like you, I too have found Gen AI (I mainly use MS CoPilot as our university has an institutional license) to be a lifesaver, primarily with helping me write Power M and DAX code. This has been pivotal for me, as I do not otherwise have the coding background to leverage PowerBI's full power, though I am slowly learning.
