LRRT Virtual Mentoring Program - 2026-2027 cohort

ALA’s Library Research Round Table (LRRT) is excited to announce the initiation of a new cohort for the Virtual Research Mentoring Program. This program is designed to connect those interested in pursuing research with experienced researchers, offering valuable guidance and support throughout the research process. Participants are thoughtfully paired based on research interests, methodologies, or individual identities to foster meaningful and productive mentoring relationships.
If you are a master's or doctoral student preparing to conduct a research project, a librarian new to academic librarianship seeking to establish a research agenda, a practicing librarian feeling stuck in your own research, or an experienced librarian looking to apply research methods to your work, this program could be a great fit for you. Likewise, if you are a tenured professor, an experienced practitioner-researcher, or a recent graduate with research experience, you have the opportunity to mentor others by helping them explore research topics, learn new methodologies, provide advice on navigating the IRB process, or simply act as a sounding board for ideas.
We are seeking both mentors and mentees for the launch of this innovative program. If you are eager to share your experiences and learn from emerging researchers, we encourage you to consider becoming a mentor. If you are looking to expand your knowledge and skills in conducting research, we invite you to participate as a mentee.
Prospective mentees will be asked to specify the research topics, methodologies, or projects that interest them. The LRRT Virtual Mentorship Program Committee will carefully pair mentees with mentors who can best meet their research needs. To be considered for the program, please complete the LRRT Virtual Mentorship Program Mentor/Mentee Application by August 17, 2026.
Outcomes of the Program:
Mentees will develop essential research skills.
Mentees will build valuable networking connections.
Mentors will contribute to the growth and success of early-career colleagues.
Papers or studies facilitated through the program may be shared widely within the profession.
The knowledge base of the profession will be enriched.
