Hi all,

Last week, eLife announced the introduction of a publication fee of $2,500, effective from January 1, 2017.

Introducing a fee that covers our marginal costs is part of our long-term strategy for the health and success of the journal. We hope that our transparent, cost-based approach will help drive a more effective and efficient marketplace for scientific publishing.

For more details about the fee and how we’ve set it, eLife’s Mark Patterson, Executive Director, and Jennifer McLennan, Head of External Relations, have written a blog post: https://elifesciences.org/elife-news/inside-elife-setting-fee-publication

An eLife Editorial about the fee is available to read here: http://dx.doi.org/10.7554/eLife.21230

And Nature has also featured a news piece: http://www.nature.com/news/open-access-journal-elife-to-start-charging-fees-1.20700

Please let me know if you’d like more information.

Kind regards,

Emily
