Dear all,

Please join OASPA for our live Twitter chat about attribution with Cameron Neylon (Curtin University) Michael Carroll (American University), Ernesto Priego (City University London) and Catriona MacCallum (PLOS) on Tuesday, July 12th, from 3pm-4pm BST (7am PDT, 10am EDT, 11am BRT, 3pm WAT, 4pm CEST/EET/SAST, 7.30pm IST, 11pm KST, 12am + 1 day AEST). Please join the discussion on Twitter by tweeting any questions you have for Cameron, Michael, Ernesto, and Catriona about attribution and open access publishing using the hashtag #OASPAChat, and they will be responding to them in realtime. Event details are listed on the OASPA website here: http://oaspa.org/oaspa-twitter-chat-attribution/

Attribution in open access publishing is an important, timely issue for publishers, authors, and the general public, that goes hand-in-hand with licensing. Those making use of academic research need to be aware of the copyright status of the content they are working with, and the source of their right to use it. Attribution practices differ across publishers and academic disciplines, and standardisation of such practices has yet to be formalised. Unlike the consistency seen in licensing behaviours and values, attribution is often inconsistently expressed.

This Twitter chat builds upon our recent webinar on attribution, and can be seen as an extension of the ‘Q&A’ time from this discussion. The recording and slides from the webinar, along with other past webinars, can be found here: http://oaspa.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/OASPA-Webinar-Attribution-20160505-1402-1.mp4. Our blogpost reflecting on the webinar is here: http://oaspa.org/panelists-discuss-attribution-oaspa-webinar/

OASPA will be moderating the questions tweeted on the hashtag, and we’ll aim to get as many questions answered as possible during the chat. The chat is open to everyone, so please do spread the word to anyone you think might be interested. If you have any further questions regarding the chat, please don’t hesitate to contact me at leyla.w...@oaspa.org.

Best wishes,

Leyla
