Colleagues,

This spring, a group of librarians active in the OpenCon librarian community came together to produce resources to support academic libraries and their patrons in participating in International Open Access Week. Check them out in the Open Action Kit.

*NOTE: These are high-level resources that can be applied to Open Education Week or other initiatives as well!

Start by checking out our curated list of resources to get the wheels turning. Oh, and feel free to add your own! Experienced OA Week coordinators have created planning checklists that will help you put together a variety of events.

What is the Open Action Kit you ask? Well, it’s essentially a set of monthly (now and mid-November) resources and tools designed to help you participate in OA Week 2017. This kit has been designed with everyone in mind (from novices to veterans) and keeps with this year’s theme “Open in Order to…”. It address the following themes:

  • Exploring and choosing your action

  • Crafting your message and inspiring engagement

  • Getting to the finish line and connecting with other champions

  • Telling the story of your efforts and success

Also, our first Twitter chat about assessing OA Week events was Tuesday, September 19. You can still add to the conversation at #openpros! Join us for another Twitter chat in November.

Got questions? Want to find out how you can participate in the development of this resource as well? Don’t hesitate to connect with a member of the Open Action Kit team.
