To keep you ahead of these changes we have put together the following summary of rate and rule changes that will occur in QuickBooks Sales Tax this month and may affect your business transactions. Sales Tax Return filing is released and available for all eligible customers in Iowa, Minnesota, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia. CONTENT UPDATES |
Florida Effective October 1, 2025 the Commercial Rental Tax is being eliminated in Florida. State sales tax and local discretionary sales surtax will no longer apply to rental or license fees for rental or occupancy periods beginning on or after October 1, 2025. Examples of commercial rentals subject to the repeal include rentals of commercial office or retail space, warehouses, and self-storage units. The tax category relating to commercial rentals in Florida will be updated to exempt starting October 1st. See Tax Information Publication No. 25A01-04 for more details.
Washington Starting October 1, 2025, Washington law (ESSB 5814) will require sales tax to be collected on a wide range of professional and digital services that were previously exempt, including IT support, custom website and software development, advertising, live presentations, and temporary staffing services. All relevant tax categories have been updated accordingly. More information from the state of Washington may be found here. |
