New issue 137 by kardar...@gmail.com: Crash on startup - non-window mode
only
http://code.google.com/p/antares/issues/detail?id=137

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Attempt to start Antares with the "Run In Window" box NOT checked.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Game does usual fade-to-black when it starts, then abruptly crashes.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Using a brand-new download of 0.7.1, on OS 10.9.2

Please provide any additional information below.
Windowed mode works fine. Only non-windowed crashes.

Hmm. It works for me. Can you tell me:

1. What is the native resolution of your display, and what resolutions are
allowed? (from "Displays" in "System Preferences", though the list should
be the same in Antares)
2. Is it a Retina/HiDPI display?
3. Does the crash happen if you choose the native resolution when starting
Antares? When starting with a non-native resolution? When starting with a
resolution that's not in "Displays"? (there shouldn't be any, but hey, the
game shouldn't be crashing either)
4. What results if you open Terminal.app, paste this command, and
hit "return"?

defaults read org.arescentral.antares ScreenWidth

(ScreenHeight would also be helpful)

I'm on a mid-2012 Retina MacBook Pro, and the base resolution is 2880x1800.

ScreenWidth and ScreenHeight return the last width and height settings I
started the game at.

Just checked; with Windowed Mode unchecked, it crashes at all selectable
resolutions.

I had been running Antares 0.6.1 at 1440x900 without problems until just
recently when after I updated my OS it started to play with the game screen
moved up and right partially off the screen, so I downloaded 0.7.1 in hopes
that it would fix the problem.

Hi, can you try this build?

http://downloads.arescentral.org/Antares/Antares-nightly.zip

This uses new libraries for full-screen support. Also, if you run it in a
window, you should get real HiDPI support; e.g. cruisers will appear in
full resolution even if zoomed out to 1:2.

Here's a release candidate for 0.7.2:
http://downloads.arescentral.org/Antares/Antares-0.7.2rc1.zip
Should fix your problem. I'll mark it as final in a few days if so unless I
get word that the issue persists.

(assumed to be fixed in 0.7.2, please reopen if the issue persists)
