We still have spots open for our summer + fall workshop series: Practicing Systems Leadership, A Two-Part Workshop for Knowledge Workers, and we'd love to have you with us:

Over two sessions (including async reading, interactive activities and facilitated discussions), you'll:

  • Understand systems leadership and what it looks like in your specific context and role
  • Identify where you have real leverage to drive change in the systems you're part of
  • Build the skills to create shared understanding across difference, competing priorities, and uneven power
  • Develop your own practice of leading with intention, from wherever you sit in your organization or community
  • Connect with a small, generative cohort of peers doing this work alongside you

Session 1: July 16, 2–4pm ET 
Session 2: September 10, 2–4pm ET

This workshop grows out of something we care deeply about at Educopia: creating space for individuals and communities to share ideas, collaborate, and tackle the complex challenges of the knowledge sector together. Systems leadership is one framework we keep coming back to, because lasting change happens when we build collective capacity, not just individual expertise.

That's the thinking behind our Systems Leadership Interview Series, where we've been talking with leaders who prioritize empathy, shared purpose, and collaboration, especially in times of change. A few of the voices we've been in conversation with:

  1. Madison Snider [Siegel Family Endowment] talks about the power of friction, plural leadership, and what it means to build technology with communities rather than for them.
  2. Anne Lee Steele [STUDIO SANSHIN] talks about the evolving open ecosystem, the human side of systems leadership, and what it takes to sustain collaborative digital communities today.
  3. Kimberly Jenkins [The Fashion and Race Database] traces the fault lines of exclusion and erasure that run through the fashion system, and explores the radical power of creativity, research, and institution-building as tools for rewriting the narrative.
  4. Gita Manaktala [MIT Press] shares how university publishing can defend academic freedom, embrace innovation, and expand who gets to create and access knowledge, even in a time of profound change.
  5. Gabriel Solís [After Violence Project] invites us into a model of community-rooted, narrative-shifting systems change, using restorative operations, staff-led mutual aid, participatory archival practices, and abolitionist advocacy to transform how we respond to state violence and preserve endangered forms of knowledge.

This workshop is the next step in that conversation: a chance to not just learn about systems leadership, but to actually practice it, in community with peers who are navigating similar challenges.
