Webinar: WDPD 2023 Opening Session (Virtual)  

Time: 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM (EST)  

Join us for the kickoff of WDPD 2023 at Penn State in our opening session featuring two guest speakers.  Shelly Black, Digital Archivist at North Carolina State University Libraries, will share insights on creating a secure virtual reading room for remote researchers using desktop virtualization in her presentation "Deploying a Secure Virtual Reading Room." You'll also hear from Alex Kinnaman, Digital Preservation Coordinator, and Alan Munshower, Digital Collections Archivist at Virginia Tech University Libraries, as they discuss their journey in developing environmentally sustainable digital curation practices in their presentation "Green Goes with Anything: First Steps for Environmentally Sustainable Digital Libraries" Learn about their efforts to balance best practices with sustainability and the broader community impact of their preservation choices.  
 

Game: Digital Preservation Jeopardy   

Time: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM (EST)  

Engage in a fun game of Digital Preservation Jeopardy and test your knowledge about digital preservation best practices, formats, and challenges.

Information Mini-Sessions: Digitization and Digital Curation (Virtual & In Person)   

Time: 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM (EST)  

Join us for an engaging information session that delves into the world of digitization and digital curation at Penn State Libraries. This session is available both virtually and in person and is structured into four mini-sessions, each offering valuable insights into our practices. More details about the mini sessions are listed in the full schedule

  • Overview of Secure Enclave for Digital Collection, Nathan Tallman  
  • Special Collections Library:  Born Digital Accessioning/Processing, Kevin Clair  

Resource Session: Dive Deeper into Digital Preservation (Virtual and In-Person)  

Time: 3:00 – 4:00 PM (EST)  

Interested in learning more about digital preservation? Join our resource session to discover additional materials, courses, and tools available for those who want to expand their knowledge in this field. To conclude this session, we will host an “Ask Me Anything” panel including:
