Engineers in Technical Humanitarian Opportunities of Service (ETHOS) Conference

Online, January 25 – 29, 2021, 15:00-17:30 GMT Each Day (M-F)

In years with an in-person conference, ETHOS participants enjoy a "flame off" at the end of the weekend, testing stoves by roasting marshmallows for s'mores.

ETHOS is a yearly biomass stove conference that has helped to bring progress to the world for the last twenty years. The January 25-29, 2021 ETHOS online conference starts what promises to be at least 4 years of interest, support, and progress. For me, ETHOS is like the starter's shot at the beginning of a race. Biomass has become center stage as climate change challenges the use of fossil fuels. But to be carbon neutral, sustainably harvested biomass has to be burned cleanly. Smoke, by weight, is hundreds of times worse than carbon dioxide for climate warming.

As Tom Reed said, a billion affordable, effective biomass stoves that don't make smoke are needed. Quite a market! How much closer to that goal can we get in the next four years?

Please add your valuable contributions and join your colleagues in developing, manufacturing, and selling solutions that fly off of shelves. The ETHOS board is currently reviewing submissions and the deadline for three sentence abstracts is Monday, January 11.

Register for the conference and submit abstract and title here: www.ethoscon.com/2021-registration/

See you there! -Dean Still
