It has been a long time since the last in-person meeting related to Apptainer or its predecessor Singularity, but I am very happy to announce that one is now planned for May 7, 2025, in Chicago in conjunction with the first conference of the High Performance Software Foundation (HPSF). The HPSF is a relatively new Linux Foundation project bringing together much of the important software used in High Performance Computing. See more at
https://hpsf.io
The conference is Monday through Thursday, May 3-8. Details are at
https://events.linuxfoundation.org/hpsf-conference/
I want to draw special attention to the Call for Proposals at
https://events.linuxfoundation.org/hpsf-conference/program/cfp/
The deadline is February 23 to submit a proposal for giving a talk as part of the Apptainer community meeting. The schedule doesn't yet show exactly when the Apptainer meeting will be, but it is expected to be either the morning or afternoon of Wednesday, May 7. The website says that speakers get complimentary passes to the "event" although I'm not sure if that's the whole conference or just the Apptainer meeting portion or even if it only applies to speakers the first two days. Other software projects planning their own community meetings (so far) are Spack, Charliecloud, and Kokkos.
I hope to meet many of you there.
Dave
