RIEEE Spring 2026 Webinar Series

RIEEE is excited to announce our Spring 2026 Webinar Series in support of our mission to amplify research and connect researchers across and beyond campus. We hope you can join our three scheduled webinars:

Leveraging the Mathematics and Science Education Center (MSEC) to Broaden the Impact of Your Research

The Mathematics and Science Education Center (MSEC) offers a variety of services and engagement activities to educators across the region, including a lending library of STEM resources, professional development, outreach partnerships, and research support. MSEC is available to help researchers strategize and maximize the potential of their technical research to positively impact society, particularly by leveraging the center’s connections with RCOE faculty and K-12 school partnerships. Join us to hear about actionable strategies for making your NSF Broader Impacts (BI) statements stand out to review panels by properly planning and demonstrating your project’s potential for societal benefits.

Speaker: Chrystal Dean, Director of Mathematics and Science Education Center, Professor, Mathematics Education

Date & Time: Friday, February 13 at 11 a.m. Add this session to your calendar.

Location: Zoom

Partnering for Impact: An Overview of NEMAC’s Work and Collaborations

Join us for an orientation to the work and goals of the National Environmental Mapping and Applications Center (NEMAC), an applied research center at the University of North Carolina Asheville. NEMAC’s mission is to serve as a bridge between science producers and science users, delivering science to decision makers and the public through the development of science communication strategies, resilience plans, geospatial analysis, and platforms for data visualization and interaction. We will hear highlights of NEMAC’s projects and discuss potential collaborations.

Speakers: Karin Rogers, NEMAC Director and Research Scientist; Greg Dobson, NEMAC Director of GIS and Engagement

Date & Time: Friday, March 20 at 11 a.m. Add this session to your calendar.

Location: Zoom

NC Share Computing and Storage Resources for Research and Education

Appalachian State ITS staff will provide an overview of NC Share, a state-wide cyberinfrastructure that leverages the power of high-speed networking, shared computational capacity, and state-of-the-art GPUs to create a path toward innovation in higher education and research. Learn how to gain access to NC Share for computing and storage resources, watch a demonstration of the platform, and hear about potential use cases for using NC Share to complement and enhance existing computing and storage resources for research and education at Appalachian State.

Speakers: Justin Cervero, Director of Systems and Research Computing, ITS; Jeff Tickle, Manager, Linux and Research Systems, ITS

Date & Time: Friday, April 17 at 11 a.m. Add this session to your calendar.

Location: Zoom
