Are you interested in collaborating on an Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) proposal that addresses workforce development and education for the small modular and advanced nuclear reactor field?
Pitt-Tech is a nuclear services firm, and the PIs are partnering with academic institutions and national labs across the Appalachian region to assess existing nuclear training programs and identify gaps in skills and knowledge specific to advanced nuclear reactor technologies. The objective of the SMART Program is to "attract nuclear industry jobs to the Appalachian Region by upskilling through a regional workforce development program."
Some stated opportunities for collaboration include:
- Advisory for curriculum development
- Advisory + Extension of existing training programs to nuclear, e.g.:
- Extension of welding skills into nuclear
- Extension of machining skills into nuclear
- Support curriculum development by providing a test bed for curriculum validation
- Benefit from developed curriculum
You can find
an overview of the SMART Program here, as well as in the attached slide deck.
If you are interested in collaborating on the SMART Program proposal, please reach out to Jamie Russell (russ...@appstate.edu) by April 27th.
