Call for Abstracts Open - September 15, 2025

We encourage students, faculty, practitioners, and community members from across the state to submit abstracts for consideration for the North Carolina Water Resources Conference

The deadline to submit an abstract is November 10th.

The conference program is determined by the abstracts that are submitted and accepted by WRRI. Past conferences have had sessions on a variety of topics from across the state including:

  • Surface and groundwater quality and quantity
  • Flooding
  • Emerging contaminants
  • Water and wastewater treatment
  • Erosion control
  • Stormwater management
  • Water policy
  • Community engagement
  • Nutrient management
  • & much more!
Multiple Presentation Styles are Welcome

Presenters can choose one of the styles below or suggest their own.

Oral Presentation: Present a ~15 minute talk with slides. Selected presentations will be placed into a session based on topic.

Poster Presentation: Present a scientific poster summarizing research. All selected posters will be displayed, and presenters will present during the poster reception.

Full Session or Panel Discussion: Plan a session (approximately 90 minutes) consisting of several oral presentations, a panel, workshop/training, and/or a discussion.

Lightning Talk: Present a captivating and informative 5 minute mini-presentation.

Suggest a new presentation style: WRRI is open to ideas that inform in engaging and exciting ways!

About the Conference

The North Carolina Water Resources conference will take place on March 25th and 26th in Raleigh at the McKimmon conference center. This annual conference, hosted by the Water Resources Research Institute, brings together academics, utilities, consultants, nonprofits, state and federal agencies, among many others working in a variety of water resource sectors.
