I wanted to pass on the information for our California Society of American Foresters winter meeting which is taking place in San Luis Obispo on January 26 & 27. The meeting theme is "Forest Resilience Across the WUI." We will hear from a slate of awesome speakers talking about oak woodland management, urban wood utilization, wildfire resilience research and local forest restoration projects. If your school has an active SAF student chapter, there will be an opportunity for them to share chapter updates on Friday night. This is a great opportunity for students to learn more about forestry, network (the SAF national president will be attending!) and meet foresters and other students from across the state.
There are 2 options for student registration- either the full meeting which includes a discounted rate for dinner on Friday, breakfast and lunch on Saturday, presentations and a field tour, OR for local students there is a registration option for just the Saturday morning presentations.
If you know that you will be attending the meeting and bringing a group of students but haven't had a chance to register everyone yet, it would be great if you could send me and Kathleen an approximate headcount this week so we can plan for the meals. I hope to see many of you in a few weeks! Please reach out if you have any questions.
