Dear uPortal Community,

We are delighted to share some exciting news! The Software Freedom Conservancy has selected The Apereo Foundation to organize the "FOSS in Education" track at the upcoming FOSSY 2024 conference. This prestigious event will take place from August 1st to 4th at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon, USA. We are thrilled to be at the forefront of discussions on the significant role of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) in educational environments.

The "FOSS in Education" track will highlight the profound impact educational institutions have on the development and propagation of open source software and broader open initiatives. Colleges and universities have long been leaders in advancing various open educational resources, including open content, textbooks, courses, journals, data, and scientific research. This track will explore the multifaceted contributions of higher education to the open source community.
