Hi folks,

We finished reviewing and merging pull requests. We are going to leave the remaining PRs for the next release. We will start release testing today. Once we feel confident that the quality of the codebase is sufficient, we will cut the next and possibly final uPortal 5 release. While we can still release uPortal 5 versions if needed, our team will switch gears to implement breaking changes that will be the basis of uPortal 6.

What is in uPortal 6 that is incompatible with uPortal 5?
- Newer version of Java required (using new Java features not in Java 8/11)
- Upgrade Gradle (requires Java 17+)
- Upgrade Tomcat (requires new version of Java)
- Upgrade JS tooling to allow us to use ES6
- Reorganize packages and modules to align with separation of internal "services"

That's the short list. Back to this upcoming release ....

If you have the wherewithal to help test, we are testing the "master" branch of uPortal. With some luck and community help, we should finish testing by Monday and have a release soon after.

Have a great weekend!
