[sakai-all] New Sakai Project Management Committee (PMC) Members

Hi all,

I am pleased to announce two new members recently elected to the Sakai Project Management Committee (PMC). The PMC[1] gets involved when there is a significant or broader issue or a decision needs to be made regarding Sakai's direction or resource expenditure by Apereo on behalf of Sakai [2]. 

Here are the new members:

Kunal Jaykam, Learning Experiences
Kunal Jaykam is a dedicated software engineer with Learning Experiences, contributing to the Sakai project since November 2021. In his role, Kunal plays a pivotal part in Jira management, addressing critical issues that enhance the platform's functionality and user experience. As the lead for internationalization, he ensures that Sakai's development aligns with global user needs, enhancing accessibility and usability worldwide. With his significant contributions to Trinity, the new Sakai portal, Kunal has played a vital role in the recent developments of Sakai.

Shoji Kajita - Professor of Information Technology Center, Nagoya University
Shoji Kajita is a researcher and practitioner on Infield Information Informatics defined as study of the ways in which community dynamics and information and communication technologies mutually shape each other as a stakeholder of community. He is currently a Professor of Information Technology Center, Nagoya University, and also an Emeritus Professor of Kyoto University. He was a Professor of IT Planning Office, Institute for Information and Management Communication, Kyoto University. Before moving to Kyoto University, he was an Associate Professor of Strategic Planning Office in Information Communication Technologies and Services, and also Department of Systems and Social Informatics, Graduate School of Information Science, Nagoya University. His current main interests include e-Learning and e-Science to actualize scalable and shared information environments among higher educational institutions. Shoji has been leading the developments and operations of Sakai at both Nagoya University and Kyoto University for twenty years - from the beginning of Sakai Project. Shoji can contribute his works including i18n fixes and updates of Japanese resources through his activities to migrate from WebCT to Sakai, and to upgrade Sakai at Nagoya University and Kyoto University.

PMC membership is reflective of significant contributions to the community and a dedication to the shared goals of the Sakai community.

In terms of what PMC membership "means", the PMC members are already active members in the various groups in the Sakai/Apereo community (QA, Core Team, Marketing, Accessibility, Teaching and Learning, etc.). Most of the decisions about Sakai are made in those groups without any need for the PMC to take a vote or render an opinion because we believe that those closest to the actual work should make decisions regarding the work whenever possible.

Please join me in thanking these new PMC members for their past, present, and future contributions to Sakai and welcoming them as the newest members of the Sakai PMC [3].
