Hi all,

I talked to Jenn from Apereo, and she has ordered $1000 in AWS credits for Sakai this year. The cost of the credits was $49 which we charged to Sakai using the project PEX card. (They used to offer $2000 for AWS in prior years, but the amount of credits has gone down.) As soon as the order is completed (it usually takes a couple of days), she will send me the license info and I will forward it to Earle for entering into AWS.

Regarding the Azure credits, several options were listed, and we weren't sure which one to purchase. @Dr. Chuck and/or Kunal - please go to https://www.techsoup.org/microsoft/microsoft-server-solutions page and let me know which of the items there you would like select. Once you let me know which one is the correct one, we can complete the purchase and send you the license info and/or credentials. The prices for the various options are shown on that page as the "admin fee"; click on each option for more details.

Thanks,

Wilma

So, Quick look at Microsoft - it looks like they don’t have what we would want - some linux boxes for free.  It kooks like thye just have Microsoft servers that are discounted.  Which we do not need.

If anyone else looks at this and finds free Linux servers, let me know :)

OK, I've sent that link to Jenn and asked her about next steps for going through Microsoft directly.

i think we would want an azure credits option, similar to the AWS credits.

FYI -  Apereo needed to register with Microsoft as a nonprofit org first, before we could proceed with the Azure credits. Jenn has submitted the form and the eligibility of Apereo is under review now. Jenn said she would let me know as soon as she receives approval.
