Proposal: Using available Sakai budget to fund community roles

Hello Sakai PMC Members,

At this week's Sakai PMC meeting, we discussed using the available Sakai budget to fund community roles. Funding for these roles was something that the community used to provide, but has not done so recently. This change is part of a larger conversation regarding the overall Sakai budget and future sustainability of the project. Those present at the PMC meeting agreed with this approach. 

We are now opening this to the mailing list for a formal vote to ensure that all PMC members are aware of the change and have an opportunity to vote. Voting will be open for three working days and will follow the lazy consensus model, where no vote is considered an approval.

As a reminder, this is a public vote. Please use "+1" to signify approval, "0" to abstain, or "-1" to disapprove. Per our governance documents, any "-1" vote must be accompanied by a detailed explanation. A single "-1" vote based on a material objection will block the action, though it can be overridden by a 2/3 majority roll call vote of active PMC members.

Thanks to all who voted via email and/or expressed approval for this proposal during our last Sakai PMC meeting. 

Since all of the votes received were +1s, and there were no objections within or after the 3 day voting window, this proposal has passed per our voting procedure. 

I believe the next step is for Dr. Chuck, the Sakai PMC chair, to provide Apereo with a Statement of Work for the community roles.
