Hi Patrick,

I wanted to share an upcoming opportunity with EDUCAUSE that could be of interest to the Apereo Foundation. We have an LMS Platforms Demo Day coming up on May 6th. 

So far, we have three companies signed up:

• D2L
• Anthology
• Instructure

Read below to learn more about Demo Days below:

 

Demo days are online events for corporations to provide a demonstration of a product. Our registration average for Demo Days has been between 300 and 600 people. 

 

As an attendee of a demo day (and it’s free to all attendees), I can go into any or all the demos. Each is 45 minutes; 30 minutes with 15 minutes Q&A. Attendees have found this very valuable, as they review the various company solutions in one day. 

 

EDUCAUSE will:

• Collect your content, build a web page with registration, and market through several mediums.
• Provide a promotional marketing tool kit so that your company can market too.
• Take demo presenters on a walk through 1-2 weeks prior to the event and EDUCAUSE will facilitate the event the day of
• Provide the full list of registrants for the Demo Day less those opt outs, the demo link to repurpose, and an evaluation.
• The cost is $5,100 for corporate members and $6,100 for corporate non-members
•  Your content is due 4 weeks in advance of the event date - April 6th

Yes - We did that a few years back when I was spending marketing money.  A *COMPLETE* waste of time and money.

The event did not broaden exposure at all - it was just a way for folks who were advocates of one LMS go into the meeting and trash the other LMSs.  No real open minded customers seemed to be in the meeting at all.

Like I said - useless.
