Sakai 12 upgrade - sakai.properties: hibernate.dialect & allowDuplicateSite

Hello Sakai Devs,

For the Sakai 12 upgrade, I have a few questions about some sakai.properties that changed in the Readme in the install guide

MySQL and MariaDB - upgrade to Hibernate resulted in new dialect

hibernate.dialect=org.hibernate.dialect.MySQL57InnoDBDialect

Do we need to use the new dialect even if we are running MySql 5.6?  Do we need to upgrade to MySql 5.7?

Site Management - Duplicating sites disabled by default due to performance concerns

# site.setup.allowDuplicateSite=true

Besides performance concerns, is there any harm in re-enabling site duplication in Sakai 12?  This was a very commonly used feature by our admins in Sakai 11 and below.

Hi Austin,

Sometimes the easiest thing to do is navigate to those classes and read what the differences are!

org.hibernate.dialect.MySQL5InnoDBDialect -> is the goto dialect for Mysql 5 using InnoDB (it extends MySQL5Dialect which extends MySQLDialect)

org.hibernate.dialect.MySQL57InnoDBDialect -> extends MySQL5InnoDBDialect and adds support for fractional seconds precision (fsp): http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.7/en/fractional-seconds.html

So unless your using MySQL 5.7 I would stick with MySQL5InnoDBDialect..
