Hi Sakai Dev,

I hope you’re doing well.

I wanted to check if there is a supported way in Sakai 23.4 to configure or customize course site visuals, specifically to assign different images or icons per faculty when creating course sites.

We’re looking to visually distinguish faculties (e.g., Arts, Science, Law, etc.) at the site level, ideally in a way that can be applied consistently during site creation rather than manually updating each site afterward.

Could you advise on:

  • Whether this is achievable out-of-the-box, or
  • If it requires custom development (e.g., skinning, tool modification, or site templates), and
  • Any recommended approach or best practice for implementing this?

Appreciate your guidance.

Thanks in advance.
~Khan

There's some text box which is accessible in the sites tool where you can paste custom JavaScript for a site. Unfortunately it's a very long time ago and I've forgotten the details but it should be described in either the confluence wiki or in Sakai dev mail list.

You could maybe create a few 'template' sites, one per faculty, and clone the appropriate one when creating a new site for that faculty.

Sorry my memory is so hazy but hopefully I may remind others who can help.

There may be other ways to do it?

Adam

Thank you Adam,

The use of templates wasn't on my mind as a solution, but I will try that method thank you again. I will look further into this as well, thank you once again for the feedback and guidance.

Kind Regards
