Hello All,

We are checking out the new Meetings tool in Sakai 25 and currently use the BigBlueButton (BBB) contrib integration: https://github.com/sakaicontrib/bbb-tool

We’re interested in seeing BBB supported in the core Meetings tool, as hinted in the README (“Support other web conference providers like Zoom or BBB depending on funding or contributions”).

I have a few questions:

Are there any ongoing efforts or a roadmap for integrating BBB into the core Meetings tool?
If not, what would be the recommended path to move this forward?

From our testing, there are notable differences between the core Meetings tool and the BBB contrib tool, including:

  • Workflow for creating and joining meetings

  • Availability options

    • Mandatory open/close dates

  • Meeting options (e.g., recording, wait-for-moderator)

  • Participant selection

We’re happy to contribute within the bounds of our capabilities .

Thank you

Best regards
Julian Janetschek, MCI

This sounds like an easy afternoon for Claude Code or Codex 5.3-xhigh. Have you tried feeding your task with a robust prompt?

1) Here is the old code on disk: /path/to/
2) Here is documentation for the BigBlueButton API: URL
3) Here is the goal: xxxxxx
4) Please come up with a plan first. If you have any implementation questions, please ask them early before proceeding with code edits.
5) Emphasize modularity and the possibility of bringing in other meeting providers in the future.
