Good morning,
Just a friendly reminder that our next Sakai Accessibility Working Group meeting is scheduled for this Friday, February 18 at 11am.
If you are available to join us, we would love to see you!

(Please note that this is a new link, as we recently switched back to using one of the UVA Zoom accounts for our Sakai Accessibility Working Group meetings)
In terms of our proposed agenda for Friday’s Sakai Accessibility Working Group meeting…
1--I would like your input on a proposed solution for how to make various text fields in Sakai that have character count limits more accessible for screen reader users.
For an example, you can refer to how the “short description” field in Forums” currently works and/or review the video that is attached to SAK-45310.
What I would like to know from you, the Sakai community, is whether there are other places in Sakai (i.e. text fields with character count limits) that we should try to model this same behavior after?? My goal would be to take your input and use it to create a prioritized list of text field examples throughout Sakai to give to the Dev team to begin working on, similar to what we have suggested for the “Hot Spot” question alt text description issue.
2—We can use the remainder of our time together working through our new “WAM-A11Y” Jira review process (see attached) to prioritize any existing tickets that should be moved up the cue…
Finally, my thanks to Terry Golightly for volunteering to help with cleaning-up our Sakai Accessibility Working Group page on the Sakai Confluence site! Really appreciate your help with this Terry!
If you can't make this Friday’s Sakai Accessibility Working Group meeting, please mark your calendar for the next one scheduled for Friday, March 4, 2022 at 11am.
Thanks,
Chris Knapp
