Good morning,
In advance of our 2pm Sakai Accessibility Working Group meeting--I wanted to share the attached documents which we will be referencing at different points during our discussion…
Again, the purpose of today’s discussion is to provide an update on where we are at in the process to develop a plan for the Sakai 22 VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) and give members of the Sakai community (you) an opportunity to review the draft plan, ask questions, and offer up any ideas or suggestions that you might have for how we can improve upon this draft plan.
You do not need to be a VPAT or accessibility expert to contribute to this discussion—all perspectives are welcome.
Our goal is two-fold—1) to ensure that we are better prepared to author the Sakai 22 VPAT and subsequent VPATs for future releases of Sakai, and 2) to align and combine these efforts with other work already being performed, to create a cohesive accessibility strategy moving forward.
We are going to try and avoid getting too far into the weeds during this afternoon’s discussion, and will instead focus on certain key activities or phases that will need to constitute our VPAT plan—things like:
Please feel free to join us at 2pm today (Zoom meeting information is provided below)—or if you are not able to make today’s meeting, you can email your questions/comments to me at: ch...@knappstrategic.com

Subject: [Sakai A11y] Important Sakai Accessibility Working Group Meeting Updates!
I have a couple of important announcements to share about our Sakai Accessibility Working Group meetings…
First, please note that the Sakai Accessibility Working Group meeting scheduled for this Friday, September 3 at 2pm is canceled.
Next, I want to extend an invite to all members of the Sakai community who are interested, to join a community conversation about the VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) for Sakai 22 that we will be facilitating during our next regularly scheduled Sakai Accessibility Working Group meeting on Friday, September 17 at 2pm.
Please make plans to join us on September 17 at 2pm (no advanced notice is required)—you are welcome to join and just listen in on the discussion, but we encourage all community members to ask questions, and/or contribute their ideas to the VPAT planning process.
You don’t have to have expertise in accessibility or VPATs to participate, all perspectives, ideas, and questions are welcomed.
