Hello Apereo Developer Lists,
A post to the EDUCAUSE CIO list touched on recent changes in Java
licensing from Oracle, asking how folks are reacting and, "Any
best practices/ideas to share?" The
University of Arizona responded they were using an open
source JDK and were interested in hearing if
Oracle's changes might impact their use of an open source
option.
Based on this discussion, I've
scheduled a call with the Eclipse Foundation (home of JakartaEE) so the EDUCAUSE community can
learn more. I thought folks in Apereo's dev community (and your
colleagues on campus) might also be interested.
Let me know if
you have any specific questions, and I will be sure to add those
to the agenda. Please invite anyone you think may
be interested. We'll also record the session to share later.
Hope this is of interest,
Patrick
