Apereo OAE 12.0

Apereo OAE 12.0 (OAE Kingfisher) will be rolled out to the production environment on Thursday September 24 at 10am PDT / 1pm EDT /  6pm BST.

This new releases introduces the following features and enhancements:

• Invitations: users can now invite anyone in the world to a group, content item or discussion. When invited users can be matched to an existing tenancy, they will be invited into that tenancy. When invited users can’t be matched to an existing tenancy, they will be invited into a “Guest” tenancy.
• Search: searching has been made more powerful by allowing filtering to just the results I’m involved in, results from my institution only or results from the entire network.
• Navigation improvements: a number of navigation improvements have been introduced, including automatically landing on your personal activity feed when already signed in and a better top navigation on mobile devices.
• Multi-tenancy improvements: OAE now offers support for 1,000s of tenancies on a single installation, involving administration UI and performance improvements to support this. 
• Email verification: self-registering users or users coming in through an authentication source that is not providing a verified email are now required to verify their email address before being able to use the system.
• Email notifications: email notifications for a particular user can now be disabled entirely by a tenant administrator.

As usual, we are not expecting any downtime associated to this upgrade. Once the upgrade has been completed, an update will be sent to this list.

Hi everyone,

As of 12:45pm PDT / 3:45pm EDT / 8:45pm BST, the production
environment is successfully upgraded to OAE 12.0 (Kingfisher).

During this period, there were a few unexpected issues:

* If you changed your email, it is possible that an email
verification did not get sent. If you are awaiting an email
verification, please open "My Profile" and click the "Resend
verification" button to have it resent
* If you visited the OAE through a bookmark, there was a brief period
where you may have seen a 404 page. That issue has been resolved and
bookmarks should work as usual
* There was a system error in cluster synchronization in search. This
resulted in search being available for a short period of time. This
issue has been resolved
