Samson Goddy is a software engineer committed to social change, where diverse skill sets and people make products and communities unique.

Samson is an open source developer and advocate, primarily maintaining the Linux-flavored project Sugar Desktop from Sugar Labs, where he also served on the Oversight Board. He now serves as a Board member with the Open Source Collective, working to build sustainable open source communities.

Samson co-founded Open Source Community Africa, a catalyst for the world's "next billion creators," allowing him to engage in his passion for open source while building large projects to help Africa's budding open source community. He has consulted with African governments on technology and open source, leading programs for local and national governments, including the International Telecommunication Union, the African Union, and the United Nations. Of particular note is his commitment to extending opportunities for women in technology across the African continent through the UN's African Girls Can Code Initiative.

Samson is a frequent speaker and writer on all things open source, including, most recently, the Linux Foundation's Open Source Congress, EduStipend, SustainOSS, State of Open Con, and of course, the Open Source Community Africa Festival (and many more).
