Dear All,
Please I need to install OpenJDK 8 on my Debian 8 VM and as a requirement for install CAS 5.3.

I have tried
sudo apt-get install openjdk-8-jdk

But I get the below error
E: Package 'openjdk-8-jdk' has no installation candidate

I have tried many suggestions online but they seem not to be working for me.

Please I need help

Emmanuel,

I looks like it is in packports, https://packages.debian.org/jessie-backports/openjdk-8-jdk. You may have to enable it in sources.list, https://wiki.debian.org/SourcesList.
Debian 8 is now obsolete, https://www.debian.org/releases/. Could you update to Debian 9?

Thanks Ray.
I now know the problem is Debian 8 (Jessie). I am now using Ubuntu 18.04 and OpenJDK 8 installed without any problem.
Thanks
