UserProfile Customization for Delegated SAML Authentication

Can we customize CAS default UserProfile interface or its' subclasses to include our custom attributes? In the previous version of CAS this was available as an class, which I was customizing to include my custom attributes.
However, it has been updated as interface. I tried to Customize classes like BasicUserProfile, and SAML2Profile that implements this interface, but it is not working as expected. I need to set custom attributes and values to the User Profile which will be available throughout the CAS authentication lifecycle (till SuccessfulHandlerMetaDataPopulator class). Any way I can achieve this workflow?
