In the docs for CS 6.4 installation (https://apereo.github.io/cas/6.4.x/planning/Installation-Requirements.html) it reads:

CAS at its heart is a Java-based web application. Prior to deployment, you will need to have JDK 11 installed.

Is JDK 11 an exact requirement?  Or are later versions of the JDK also acceptable?  I don't follow Java development too closely, but I did see that JDK 17 is in general availability, so it just got me wondering.

Carl,

I believe 11 is a long term support version. It is what we use.
I have not tried more recent versions.

I acknowledge and respect the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples on whose traditional territory the university stands, and the Songhees, Esquimalt and WSÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.

6.4, JDK 16:
https://apereo.github.io/cas/6.4.x/release_notes/RC3.html#jdk-16-compatibility

6.5, JDK 17:
https://apereo.github.io/cas/development/release_notes/RC1.html#jdk-17-compatibility

Also 6.5 now passing builds for 18-ea.
